In 2003, Barry was Previz Animation Director for King Kong in Wellington, New Zealand.

China
In 2006 Barry was invited to China to co-present TV SUPER GIRLS (the ‘Pop Idol’ final in China). This aired live to an audience of several hundred million viewers with Barry attempting to announce the winners in Mandarin (which he doesn't speak). He was never quite sure why they invited him although the competition did include animated film entries.

Barry's book Stop Motion: Passion, Process and Performance was launched at the Bradford Animation Festival in 2007 where he was also a member of the judging panel.
